A Web Scraper for Traffic Counts in Georgia

When I was at Georgia Tech, many students and researchers expressed their interest of getting historical traffic counts of all traffic counters in Georgia.  GDOT does a very good job providing such information online (http://geocounts.com/gdot/), with a nice interactive map to help users search traffic data.  However, for users that need historical traffic data for multiple sites, there seems to be no easy way to do so.

I therefore wrote a web scraper in R to allow any user to extract complete traffic count data from GDOT’s Traffic Counts site.  The following code shows an example for exhaust all possible permanent traffic count site IDs in all 159 counties in Georgia.
